Remove/install trim piece on lower liftgate

Remove

1

Mark assembly position of trim piece (1) on liftgate with suitable adhesive tape

Heat trim piece (1) to approx. 40 °C and remove


Carefully remove trim piece (1).
Otherwise the paint on the liftgate can be damaged.

 Trim piece (1) cannot be removed non-destructively. For this reason it must be replaced.

Clean

Clean liftgate in area of trim piece (1)


The bonding surface must be dry, free of dust and grease.
Otherwise the sufficient adhesion of the trim piece (1) is not ensured.

Install

Locate and mark center of trim piece (1)

When replacing the liftgate.

Locate and mark center of liftgate in area of trim piece (1)

When replacing the liftgate.

Remove carrier foil from new trim piece (1)

Align trim piece (1) with liftgate and glue on


Glue on trim piece (1) at an ambient temperature of approx. 20 °C.
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

 Installation: Align trim piece (1) such that trim piece (1) has a distance of approx. 1 mm from the edge of the liftgate.

 Observe markings.



Clean

Remove attached adhesive tape and clean working area
