Danger

Risk of explosion caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant.

Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained.

Topical note

Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work

Notes on handling refrigerant R134a

AH83.30-N-0003-01A

1

Remove protective cap from pressure-side testing and filling valve (2) and from intake-side testing and filling valve (3)

2

Connect pressure and suction line of A/C suction and recycling equipment to pressure-side testing and filling valve (2) and intake-side testing and filling valve (3)

Pay attention to the operating instructions of the A/C suction and recycling equipment.

3

Remove protective cap from pressure-side shutoff valve (4) and protective cap from intake-side shutoff valve (5)

4

Screw in pressure-side shutoff valve (4) and intake-side shutoff valve (5) completely

Screwing in the pressure-side shutoff valve (4) and the intake-side shutoff valve (5) completely opens the pressure-side testing and filling valve (2) and the intake-side testing and filling valve (3).

5

Extract refrigerant from refrigerant compressor (1) using A/C suction and recycling equipment

Note the following:
Slowly open valve of A/C suction and recycling equipment.
Extract the refrigerant until no weight increase in the extracted refrigerant is detectable.
After the successful extraction of the refrigerant, close valve of A/C suction and recycling equipment.
Note down extracted quantity of refrigerant.

6

Open filling screw (8)

7

Fill missing quantity of oil into refrigerant compressor (1)

Compressor oils (specification 362.0)

BB00.40-P-0362-00A

Only oils that comply with the product approvals are to be used,
otherwise, the refrigerant compressor (1) may be damaged.

Pour oil into refrigerant compressor (1) until the oil level is near the top of the inspection glass (7).
The oil for the refrigerant compressor (1) is hygroscopic (it attracts water).
Immediately close the oil reservoir tightly and pour the measured quantity of oil into the refrigerant compressor (1) immediately.

8

Install filling screw (8) with new seal

9

Evacuate refrigerant compressor (1)

Evacuate refrigerant compressor (1) to maximum achievable vacuum, but for at least 30 minutes.

10

Unscrew pressure-side shutoff valve (4) by 3 to 5 turns

11

Pour refrigerant into system via pressure-side testing and filling valve (2)

Only the quantity noted down during extraction.

12

Close valve of A/C suction and recycling equipment

13

Unscrew pressure-side shutoff valve (4) and intake-side shutoff valve (5) completely

Unscrewing the pressure-side shutoff valve (4) and the intake-side shutoff valve (5) completely closes the pressure-side testing and filling valve (2) and the intake-side testing and filling valve (3).

14

Attach protective cap to pressure-side shutoff valve (4) and protective cap to intake-side shutoff valve (5)

15

Remove A/C suction and recycling equipment

16

Attach protective cap to pressure-side testing and filling valve (2) and to intake-side testing and filling valve (3)
