Evacuating

Danger!

Risk of explosion from welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant.

Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged.

Screw off caps above the pressure-side testing and filling valve (1) and the suction-side testing and filling valve (3)

Connect pressure and suction line of air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit to the pressure-side testing and filling valve (1) and to the suction-side testing and filling valve (3)

Observe the operator's manual of the air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit.

Screw shutoff valve into suction-side testing and filling valve (3) 2 to 5 turns

Remove cap above shutoff valve.

Evacuate air conditioning system

Evacuate air conditioning system circuit until maximum possible vacuum has been reached, but for no less than 8 hours.

Leak test

Switch off air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit

Close valves of air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit. Closing the valves prevents an incorrect leak test of the air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit.

Read off vacuum indication on pressure gauge (2) of air conditioning vacuum and recycling unit

Note vacuum pressure value

Read off vacuum indication on pressure gauge (2) again after a waiting time of 10 minutes

Compare current vacuum value to the recorded vacuum value.

If a drop in vacuum is detectable:

Fill air conditioning without performing leak test

After filling the air conditioning system, check for leaky areas:

Inspect the refrigeration circuit for leaks.

Before repairing leaky area empty air conditioning system:

Discharge air conditioning system

Check for leaky areas again after the repair work:

Repeat steps 1 to 8.

Fill air conditioning system

Do not evacuate nor perform leak test.
