Danger! | Risk of explosion caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. | Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained.
| Procedure for a damaged or leaky air conditioning system | ||
| Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work | ||
| Notes on handling R134a refrigerant | ||
1 | Drain air conditioning (recycle) | Note down suctioned off compressor oil quantity.
Installation: If the incorrect quantity of compressor oil is refilled, the refrigerant compressor can be damaged.
Installation: Evacuate and fill air conditioning system and add new compressor oil to refrigerant circuit, using noted quantity of compressor oil (new compressor oil).
Additional quantity of oil to be added when replacing fluid reservoir
Refrigerant | |||
2 | Disconnect connector (8) from refrigerant pressure sensor (B12)
3 | Unscrew refrigerant pressure sensor (B12) from receiver/drier (1) | Installation: Moisten thread on refrigerant pressure sensor (B12) with compressor oil.
| |||
4 | Remove pressure line from condenser (4) and pressure line to expansion valve (5) from fluid reservoir (1) and close with plug set. | Set of plugs for air conditioning system
Installation: Replace sealing rings (3, 6) and moisten with compressor oil when inserting. Model 168 to 28.2.01: Moisten thread on pressure line from condenser (4) with compressor oil.
| |||
| |||
5 | Unscrew bolts (2) and remove fluid reservoir (1) from radiator
6 | Install in the reverse order
7 | Check connections on fluid reservoir (1) for leakage
Air conditioning system leak detector
8 | Check air conditioning for proper operation |
