Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.

Open Vario roof

 See Operator's Manual
Open and close Vario roof at least 3 times completely to bleed the hydraulic system.

Remove cover from Vario roof crossmember (1)

 Only to extent that soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) is accessible.

Remove cable tie (arrows) and fold down insulation (2)

Read oil level off of oil level marking (A) on oil reservoir of soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5), correct if necessary

 The oil level must be within the oil level marking (A).

Remove relay strip (3) from bracket (4)

Unscrew bolts (5) and remove soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) from Vario roof crossmember (1) and turn until filler screw (6) can be unscrewed without loosing hydraulic oil through filler opening in the oil reservoir.

Screw in filler screw (6)

Fill fluid reservoir for soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) with filling syringe until fluid level is within marking (A)

 Lay rag below soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) to prevent the soiling of adjacent components.

 The filler opening must be closed for correctly checking the fluid level and the soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) must be in the installation position.



Tighten filler screw (6)



Position soft top mechanism hydraulic unit (A7/5) on Vario roof crossmember (1) and tighten with bolts (5)



Install relay strip (3) on bracket (4)

Fold up insulation (2) and fasten with new cable ties (arrows)

Install cover on Vario roof crossmember (1)
