Remove

Remove side paneling or side heat shield from exhaust aftertreatment unit.

Only if these have been installed.

See information from body manufacturer.

Remove mounting rails (2).

Only if these have been installed.

Remove maintenance flap (1).

The quick-release couplings (4) remain under tension.

Drill out the spot welds of the quick-release couplings (4).

Disconnect the quick-release couplings (4) with hammer and chisel from the maintenance flap (1).

Grind off seat (5) of quick-release couplings (4).

Install

Position maintenance flap (1) onto exhaust aftertreatment unit.

8.1

Insert tensioning straps (6) together with holding device (7) into shackles (8).

For installation with holding device (7)

The holding device (7) also acts as an adjusting gauge for the spring tensioning force. It is included in the scope of supply for the tensioning straps (6) and is generally preassembled to make installation easier.

8.2

Install tensioning straps (6).

For installation without holding device (7)

The correct tensioning force for the springs is reached by adjusting dimension (A) between the pins (6.2) by turning the screw/bolt 6.1.

Screw in screw/bolts (6.1) until the holding device (7) can be picked up by the pins (6.2).

Only for installation with holding device (7).

If the maintenance flap (1) is to be opened again here:
Position holding device (7) on pins (6.2) and remove bolt (6.1) until the holding device (7) is held in place by the spring force. After this, the tensioning straps (6) can be unhooked from the shackles (8).

Install mounting rails (2).

Only if these had been installed.

Attach side paneling or side heat shield to exhaust aftertreatment unit.

Only if these had been installed.
