Steps 2, 3, 4, 5

 	Removing/installing
 Danger!	Risk of injury to skin and eyes from handling hot or glowing objects.	Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.	AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts	All models	AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1	Remove interior flap above engine		AR88.40-T-1100-03BA
2.1	Open maintenance flap at right rear	Only for rear axle 746.217
3.1	Remove heat shield of exhaust system	Only for rear axle 746.217	AR49.00-T-1000-01BA
4.1	Loosen exhaust pipe clamps (3)	Only for rear axle 745.997
4.2	Disconnect exhaust flange (9)	Only for rear axle 746.217
		 Do this by unscrewing bolts (4) and counterholding the associated nuts. Ensure that the exhaust ring in the exhaust flange (9) is not damaged.
		 Installation: Check the condition of the exhaust ring and replace if necessary.
5.1	Slacken exhaust clamp (3) for exhaust flex pipe (1) on main silencer	Only for rear axle 746.217
6	Remove exhaust flex pipe (1)	If necessary:
		Remove exhaust pipe (2) on flap fitting	AR49.10-T-7180-01BA
7	Install in reverse order
