The adjustment screws for the hydraulic steering limiters must be turned in by at least three rotations. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Switch off ignition.

Tilt cab to repair position.

 Installation: Tilt back cab only after the leak test on the power-steering pump (3).

Open hood.

 Installation: Close hood only after the leak test on the power-steering pump (3).

Disconnect electrical connectors from MR (PLD) control unit (A6).

Remove pressure line (1), suction line (2) from power-steering pump (3) and collect escaping oil in a suitable container.

 Installation: When tightening the pressure line (1) and suction line (2), counterhold the threaded fittings at the power-steering pump (3) in each case.

Seal openings on pressure line (1), suction line (2) and on power-steering pump (3) with stop plugs.

Remove screws from power-steering pump (3) at compressor.

Remove power-steering pump (3).

 Installation: Replace O-ring.
Align driver on power-steering pump (3) before mounting cross plate (4).

Remove cross plate (4).

 Installation: Secure cross plate (4) against sliding with high-temperature grease.

Remove threaded fittings from power-steering pump (3) and collect escaping oil in a suitable container.

Only when replacing the power-steering pump (3).

 For vehicles with an elbow fitting.
Mark installation position of elbow fitting for the suction line (2).

 For vehicles with an elbow fitting.
Installation: Observe installation position of elbow fitting for the suction line (2).

Install in the reverse order

Fill and bleed steering gear oil.

Check leak tightness of power-steering pump (3).
