Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Relieve tension on poly-V belt and remove from belt pulley of power steering pump (1)

Extract oil from expansion reservoir (2) of power steering


Before opening the hydraulic system the area around the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly.
Otherwise even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic system, can lead to malfunctions and total failure of the hydraulic system.

Pinch off return line (3) using clamping device

 Clamp

Detach return line (3) from expansion reservoir (2)

 Collect oil which flows out.

 Installation: Check the return line (3) for damage; replace if necessary.

Detach high-pressure line (4) from power steering pump (1) and seal connections with a suitable stop plug

 Collect oil which flows out.

 Installation: Replace seal.

Unscrew screws/bolts (5) and remove power steering pump (1)

 Power-steering pump on timing case cover / holder

Detach belt pulley from power steering pump (1)

When replacing power steering pump (1)

 Bolts, belt pulley to power steering pump

Install in the reverse order
