Filling | |||
1 | Raise front axle and lower onto jack stands | The wheels must turn freely.
2 | Turn steering to full right lock
3 | Fill up fluid level in oil reservoir (1) until just before overflow | The oil reservoir (1) is located at the left behind the cab.
| |||
4 | Turn steering slowly from wheel lock to wheel lock approx. 10 to 12 times | The fluid level in the oil reservoir (1) must never drop below the MIN mark of the steering oil level switch (S19) when topping up, as otherwise air will be aspirated.
5 | Check fluid level in oil reservoir (1), correct if necessary | Correct the fluid level in the oil reservoir (1) up to the MAX mark of the steering oil level switch (S19).
| |||
Bleeding | |||
6 | Slacken lock nut (5) on left end limiting adjustment screw (3) | The left adjustment screw limiter (3) is marked with an "L".
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
7 | Start engine and run at idle speed
8 | Check fluid level in oil reservoir (1), correct if necessary | The fluid level in the oil reservoir (1) must never drop below the MIN mark of the steering oil level switch (S19) when topping up, as otherwise air will be aspirated again.
| |||
9 | Move steering to center position
10 | Screw in the adjusting screw of the left limiter (3) completely and tighten jam nut (5) | Screw in the adjusting screw of the left limiter (3) until the locknut (5) abuts the head of the adjusting screw of the left limiter (3) and on the steering gear housing.
| |||
11 | Slowly turn the steering approx. 8 times up to the left mechanical stop | Hold the steering on the limit stop for approx. 5 s, in the process the steering system is bled automatically.
12 | Run engine until no more air bubbles rise in the oil reservoir (1) | Correct the fluid level in the oil reservoir (1) up to the MAX mark of the steering oil level switch (S19).
13 | Turn off engine | The fluid level in the oil reservoir (1) must not change significantly.
14 | Check and adjust hydraulic limiter
15 | Conduct a road test | Following the test drive, correct the fluid level in the oil reservoir (1) up to the MAX mark of the steering oil level switch (S19). |
