Remove and install

Risk of injury on skin and eyes by hydraulic fluid expelled under high pressure. Risk of poisoning by hydraulic fluid ingestion.

Before starting to work in the hydraulic system, release the system's pressure. Wear protective clothes and safety goggles.

Lift the vehicle by its front axle and support on safety stands

 The wheels must be suspended.

Risk of injury by pinching and crushing when tilting the cab

During cab tilting nobody is allowed to remain in the tilting area. Always tilt the cab to its final position and locking.

Reading the steering box bar code



Decipher the steering box serial number through the bar code sticker

Remove the driver's side running-board

Push the boot (7) up

Remove the steering shaft with universal joint (6) and tie it to a side

 Control the marking on the input shaft (arrow A) in relation to marking on the universal joint (arrow B).

In the case of marking displacement the universal joint has to be identified correspondingly in relation to the input shaft (2). The marking on the input shaft (arrow A) must be aligned with the marking on the steering box (arrow C).

Installing install according to the marking. Use a new nut.



Remove the oil lines (9, 10), the support and the oil reservoir (8) on the steering box

Catch the hydraulic oil running out.Plug the openings on the oil lines and on the steering box.



Remove the O-Ring (3) on the steering box valve housing (1)

 In steering assembly work, thorough cleansing is indispensable. Only lint-free rags or paper towels are to be used for cleaning work.

Choke the vehicle to avoid accidental moves. Use closed and closely fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check the steering system for tightness

 Visual check with the engine running.

Carry out a test drive

 During the test drive, check the steering play and its return to the center.
