Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check

Start engine and fill compressed-air system until pressure regulator shuts off.

Switch off engine.

Connect suitable test adapter between air line (1) and regeneration compressed-air reservoir (2).

Remove screw plug (3) from regeneration compressed-air reservoir (2) and screw in suitable test adapter.

Connect manometer to test adapter.

Operate brake pedal several times to reduce supply pressure to approx. 8 bar.

Start engine.

Fill compressed-air system until pressure regulator shuts off, and determine time taken from shutoff of pressure regulator until regeneration compressed-air reservoir (2) is completely discharged.

 The regeneration compressed air reservoir (2) must also be filled when the compressed air system is being filled.
After switching off the pressure regulator, the regeneration compressed air reservoir (2) must be discharged within the specified period of time.

If problems occur,



Switch off engine and check compressed-air line between regeneration compressed-air reservoir (2) and compressed-air drier (4) as well as noise damper at compressed-air drier (4) for damage or clogging.

Repeat test procedure.

Only if complaint has been rectified.

If complaint persists,



Replace compressed-air drier (4).

 There is no reference document for removal/installation of the compressed-air drier (4).

Switch off engine.

Remove manometer from test adapter.

Remove test adapter and attach compressed-air line (1) to regeneration compressed-air reservoir (2).

Remove test adapter from regeneration compressed-air reservoir (2) and screw in screw plug (3) with new O-ring.
