D = Pressure reducing valve.
FN1= FN2 = Pressure regulating valve (fine adjustment) with discharge to the atmosphere.
V = Workbench supply pressure gage.
1=2=3=4=7=Pressure gages with 0.1 bar scale divisions, 16 bar capacity.
1L = 1 liter air tank.
20L = 20 liters air tank.
C=V=L=3=4=7= Valves (taps).
(1)=(2)=(3)=(4)=(7)=(L)= Fast connections available on the workbench.
2 - Visual check
Check the valve for external damages.
3 - Connect the valve in test stand
Fast connection 1 (test bench) at port 41
Fast connection 2 (test bench) at port 42
Fast connection 7 (test bench) at port 43
Fast connection (test bench) at port 11
Fast connection 3 (test bench) at port 21

4 - Test the leak
Operate the tap L clockwise.Operate the tap C until the gage 7 indicates 8.0 bar pressure.
Check the exhaustion port (discharge) for leakage.Shut the tap C and open the lateral tap 7 until the gage 7 indicates a pressure of “0” (zero) bar.
Check the exhaustion port (discharge) for leakage.Shut the lateral tap 7.
Operate the tap C again until the gage 7 indicates 8.0 bar pressure. Operate the valve FN1 until the gage 1 indicates 8.0 bar pressure.
Check the gage 4 that will have to indicate 8.0 bar.Check the exhaustion port (discharge) for leakage.
Deactivate the valve FN1 and actuate the valve FN2 until the gage 2 indicates 8.0 bar.Check the gage 4 that will have to indicate 8.0 bar.
Check the exhaustion port (discharge) for leakage.
Deactivate the valve FN2 until the gage 2 reaches “0” (zero) bar.
Note: In all tightness checking phases, the maximum leakage found will have to be equal or less than 8 cm³ / minute, this equals the Ø of a 25 mm bubble during 1 minute.In the case of leakages it is necessary to disassemble and repair the valve.
5 -Test the operation - Adjust
Service brake (circuit 41):
Operate the valve FN1 until the gage 1 indicates 0.5 bar.Check the pressure on gage 4 which will have to be equal or below 0.5 bar.
Increase the FN1 valve pressure until the gage 1 indicates 2.0 bar.Adjust the valve to a pressure of 2.2 bar on gage 4. This advance can be adjusted by means of an internal setting screw in the valve.
Increase the FN1 valve pressure until the gage 1 indicates 7.3 bar.Check the gage 4 that will have to indicate 7.5 bar.
Deactivate the valve FN1 until the gage 1 reaches “0” (zero) bar.
Service brake (circuit 42):
Actuate the valve FN2 until the gage 2 indicate 0.5 bar pressureCheck the pressure on gage 4 that will have to be equal or below 0.5 bar.
Increase the FN2 valve pressure until the gage 2 indicates 2 bar.Check the gage 4 that will have to indicate 2 bar.
Increase the FN2 valve pressure until the gage 2 indicates 8 bar. Check the gage 4 that will have to indicate 8 bar.
Deactivate the valve FN2 until the gage 2 reaches “0” (zero) bar.
Parking brake (circuit 43)
With a pressure drop in the circuit 43 from 8.0 bar to 6.3 bar a pressure equal or below 0.5 bar will have to be indicated on gage 4.To carry out this test, shut the tap C and slowly open the lateral tap 7 checking the drop in pressure from 8.0 bar to 6.3 bar.
With “0” (zero) bar pressure on gage 7 the gage 4 will have to indicate a pressure above 6.7 bar.Operating the tap C increase the pressure on gage 7 to 0.9 bar. The gage 4 has to present beginning of pressure drop
Increase the pressure on gage 7 to a pressure equal or greater than 7.3 bar. The gage 4 will have to indicate a pressure of “0” (zero) bar.
Operate the tap C until the gage 7 reaches 8 bar.
6 - Test rupture
Should there occur a pressure difference between the port 41 and the supply port 11 caused by the rupture of the trailer brake piping , the 2/2 way valve coupled to the distribution valve restricts the passage from 9 mm Ø to 2 mm.With a pressure of 8.0 bar at port 11, carefully detach the fast coupling (3), operate the FN1 valve and check if a pressure restriction occurs that is released by the valve.
7 - Remove the valve from the test stand
De-pressurize the valve circuits and disconnect the quick coupling from test stand.
Protect the valve connections ports with suitable plastic caps.
