1 | Operate parking brake | If the grip of the ratchet rod (1) can be applied by more than 5 notches, the parking brake must be adjusted at the adjusting nut (5). | |
2 | Secure vehicle against rolling | ||
3 | Raise vehicle at rear axle | ||
4 | Release parking brake | The wheels of the rear axle must turn freely. | |
5 | Operate parking brake | Apply the grip of the ratchet rod (1) by 4 notches. | |
6 | Slacken lock nut (4) | ||
7 | Adjust parking brake | Adjust the adjusting nut (5) until a braking effect is achieved. | |
8 | Operate parking brake | After applying the grip of the ratchet rod (1) by 5 notches, it must no longer be possible to turn the wheels on the rear axle. | |
9 | Check parking brake action | Step 7 must be repeated if the wheels on the rear axle can still be turned. | |
10 | Tighten locknut (4) | ||
11 | Release parking brake | The rear wheels must turn freely. | |
12 | Lower vehicle | ||
13 | Conduct a road test | The brake drum of the parking brake (7) must not become warm in the course of a short test drive. |
