Check parking brake valve

1 - Workbench accessories

D = Pressure reducing valve.

FN1 = Pressure regulating valve (fine adjustment) with discharge to atmosphere. Actuates stand circuit 1.

V = Workbench supply pressure gage.

1 = 3 = Pressure indicating manometers with 0.10 bar divisions, capacity going up to 16 bar. Indicates the test circuits pressure.

20L = Air reservoir with 20 liter capacity.

C = V = Faucet (taps).

(1) = (3) = Quick couplers available on the stand.

2 - Visual inspection

Check the valve for external damages.

3 - Connect the valve to the stand

Install the angle measuring device, mount the valve onto the stand as per the corresponding diagram and plug:

Quick coupling (1) (test stand) to connection 11

Quick clamping device (3) (test stand) to connection 21

4 - Test the tightness

Actuated position:

Actuate the valve FN1 until the manometer 1 reaches 8 bar pressure.

With the valve wrist in the released brake position (released wrist) check the pressure in the manometer 3 which must be of 8 bar.

Check whether there are leaks in the union areas between the body and the exhaust (discharge)

Release position:

Actuate the valve FN1 until the manometer 1 reaches 8 bar pressure.

With the valve wrist in the actuated brake position (locked wrist) check the pressure in the manometer 3 which must be of "0" (zero) bar.

Check whether there are leaks in the union areas between the body and the exhaust (discharge) outlet.

Note: If a leak is found, disassemble the valve and replace the damaged components.

5 -Perform function check

Actuate the valve FN1 until the manometer 1 reaches 8 bar pressure.

Move the valve wrist up to an angle of 20° from the released brake position (released wrist).

Check the pressure in the manometer 3 which must be between 4.1 to 4.8 bar

Move the valve wrist up to an angle of 55° from the released brake position (released wrist).

Check the pressure in the manometer 3, which should be of “0” (zero) bar.

At the angle of approximately 90° the wrist should lock and the pressure at the manometers 3 must be of “0” (zero) bar.

6 - Test the electric connector

Feed the electric connector with a current of 12 V.

Move the valve wrist to the released brake position (released wrist).

Check the contact, which must be opened.

Move the valve wrist to the actuated brake position (locked wrist).

Check the electric contact, which must be closed.

7 - Remove the valve from the test stand

De-pressurize the valve circuits and disconnect the test hoses.

Disconnect the electric cables.

Remove the valve from the device and from the stand and cover the ports with the appropriate plastic plugs.
