1 | Secure vehicle at the front wheels to prevent it from rolling away. | ||
2 | Jack up vehicle at rear axle and place on axle stands | Until the wheels are raised slightly off the ground. | |
3 | Release parking brake | Perform operation step if the compressed air actuation of the spring accumulator is functional. | |
By venting the spring accumulator when releasing the parking brake the thread of the release screw is relieved of load, making the latter easier to unscrew. | |||
4 | Unscrew the release screw of the combination cylinder by turning the nut (1) | If it was not possible to release the parking brake, the release screw must be unscrewed until the wheels can be turned freely. By unscrewing the release screw the spring is also pre-compressed without venting the spring accumulator, the combination cylinder being released mechanically. This is particularly necessary in the event of the failure of the compressed air actuation of the spring accumulator or if the combination cylinder is to be removed. | |
