Remove

Remove rear wheels

Release parking brake

Detach cover panel from brake caliper

Except on second brake caliper, code X19 load stage II or code X20 load stage III

 Only on brake caliper with wear indicator.

Disconnect wear indicator electric lines (1) at connector coupling

Except on second brake caliper, code X19 load stage II or code X20 load stage III

 Only on brake caliper with wear indicator.

Remove securing pins (2) and take out cross spring (3)

Pull out brake pads (4)

 Puller

Press together piston (Ø 48 mm)

 Resetting device

Turn back piston (Ø 57 mm)

Except on second brake caliper, code X19 load stage II or code X20 load stage III

 Bring piston (Ø 57 mm) to starting position by turning the reset shaft and adjusting spindle at cap and flange side.
Keep piston (Ø 57 mm) under tension when turning back.

Check

Clean brake parts and check for wear and damage

 Replace any worn or damaged parts,

If necessary:



Disassemble/assemble brake caliper on rear axle

Check brake pads and brake disks for wear



Install

Install brake pads (4)

 Only replace brake pads (4) in sets per axle.
Grease backplate of brake pads (4) and contact surfaces on brake caliper.

Paste, hot lubrication 1 kg, DBL 6879.20

Install securing pins (2) and cross spring (3)

Connect wear indicator electric lines (1) to connector coupling

Except on second brake caliper, code X19 load stage II or code X20 load stage III

 Only on brake caliper with wear indicator.

Adjust play

Notes on direction of rotation for adjustment of clearance

 Adjust air gap between brakepad (4) and brake disk at cap and flange side using feeler gauge.
Actuate service and parking brake several times, check clearance again.
