Remove

Remove the drag axle wheels

Remove the brake drum

Remove the screws (13) and the hub cap (12)

Release the locking screw (9) and remove the nut (10)

Remove the washer (8)

Remove the wheel hub (5)

 Puller

Remove the radial seal (2) and the inner tapered roller bearing (3) from the wheel hub (5)

 If the inner tapered roller bearing (3) gets stuck in the shaft, it should be removed with the aid of a suitable puller.



Check

Check the conditions of the friction surface of the race ring

 In case of damage or grooves on the race ring friction surface, replace it.



Install

Install the inner tapered roller bearing (3) and the radial seal (2) on the internal wheel hub (5)

 Lubricate with grease the inner roller bearing (3) and the lips of the radial seal (2).

 Installation: Use a new radial seal.

Grease, DB supply specification 6804 - Class 267.0

Install the wheel hub (5) on the axle end (1) with brake

 Installation:
Install carefully.
Risk of damaging the radial seal and the axle thread.

Install the outer tapered roller bearing (7) and thrust washer (8)

 Fill the wheel hub with grease.

 Lubricate the outer tapered roller bearing.

Install the nut (10)

 When tightening the nut, continuously rotate the hub and tap crosswise a few times using a rubber mallet.

Check and adjust the clearance of the wheel hub bearings

Tighten the lock screw (9)

Install the gasket (11), the hub cap (12) and screws (13)

 Installation: Use a new gasket.
