Precondition:

- The gear backlash is set.

- The crown wheel / differential axis is horizontal.

- The outer races of the tapered roller bearing lie on the threaded rings without play or preload.

1 Screw in the threaded rings opposite the crown wheel by 1 to 2 notches using the socket wrench (1) (empirical value for adjusting friction torque). Apply light blows to the bearing cap with a plastic mallet while doing this.
