Detach/attach ring gear at differential case

Remove/install

1 Mark the installation position of the differential housing half (2) relative to the ring gear (1).

2 Detach differential housing half (2) from ring gear (1.

Installation: Tighten bolts with nuts evenly in a diagonal pattern, . The differential housing half (2) must be flush with the ring gear (1).

3 Support ring gear (1), with the tooth flanks pointing upwards, on two sides with a suitable base.

4 Pry the differential housing half (2) off the ring gear (1).

Position a suitable drift (4) between the differential housing half (2) and press ram (3) of the workshop press.

Installation: Heat up ring gear (1) in the oil bath to approx. 80 °C. The markings on the differential housing half (2) and on the ring gear (1) must align.

5 Install in the reverse order.
