Remove/install ring gear on differential housing

Unscrew and remove the bolts (1) leaving four bolts, partially attached, at opposite sides, in the differential housing (3)


Loosen the bolts only four turns:

not to damage the threads of the differential housing (3).

Support the ring gear with the teeth side (arrows) on a proper base


The differential housing (3) should not be supported

Disassemble the differential housing (3) of the ring gear (2) with plastic hammer strikes on the heads of bolts (1)


Hammer the screws (1) alternately until the differential housing (3) from the ring gear (2) is loose.

Remove the remaining bolts (1) and the differential housing (3)

Install the guide bolts (4) in the differential housing (3) and assemble the ring gear (2)


Before assembly, lubricate all moving parts with hypoid gear oil (SAE90, 85 W-90).


The guide bolts can be obtained cutting-off the head of bolts with the same thread of the differential case and implementing a slot on one end to enable their removal and installation.


The guide bolts are to be removed after assembling the ring gear on the differential housing.

Install the bolts (1) and tighten to the specified torque
. 


Tighten the bolts alternated and crosswise.


For better control, mark the bolts as they are being tightened.
