Remove/install

 Danger

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove rear wheel



Detach hexagon collar nut (3) of rear axle shaft

 Installation: Replace hexagon collar nut (3).

 Collar nut from rear axle shaft to rear axle shaft flange

Remove brake caliper and brake disk

To relieve load on the brake hose, secure rear brake caliper at vehicle free of tension
so as to not damage it.

Remove lock (2) and cut brake cable (1) in center

Pull brake cable (1) out of wheel carrier (10)

Remove parking brake shoes

Detach rear left rpm sensor (L6/3) or rear right rpm sensor (L6/4) from wheel carrier (10)

 Self-locking bolt of rear axle rpm sensor to wheel carrier

Raise wheel carrier (10) with transmission jack and transmission plate until rear axle shaft is roughly horizontal

 Installation: Tighten the bolted connections of the pull rod, camber rod and tie rod.

Detach screw (6) of tie rod (7) from wheel carrier (10)

 Installation: Do not yet tighten tie rod (7)!

 Self-locking nut, tie rod to wheel carrier

Detach nut (4) of camber strut (5) from wheel carrier (10)

 Installation: Align dog bone washer between brake hose clip and camber strut (5).

 Installation: Do not yet tighten camber strut (5)!

Detach nut (8) of torque strut (9) from wheel carrier (10)

 Installation: Do not yet tighten strut rod (9)!

 Self-locking nut, strut rod to wheel carrier

Lower transmission jack

 Installation: Raise wheel carrier (10) with transmission jack and transmission plate until rear axle shaft is roughly horizontal.

Press rear axle shaft out of rear axle shaft flange


Hook rear axle shaft on vehicle
so as to avoid damaging axle boots of rear axle shaft.

Remove supporting joint self-locking nut (11) from wheel carrier (10)

 Self-locking nut of supporting joint of spring control arm to wheel carrier

Remove wheel carrier (10) from supporting joint

Install in the reverse order

Adjust parking brake
