Claw-type wrench
1 | Position the dial indicator holder (1) and the dial gauge (2) on the wheel hub (3). |
2 | Rest the dial gage tip with pre-load on the stub axle (4). |
3 | Set the dial indicator to "zero". |
4 | Determine the wheel bearings play by rocking the wheel hub (3) inward and out |
If nominal value is not reached, adjust the wheel play. In case of new taper roller bearings, aim at the lower value.

5 | Using a claw wrench, remove the outer grooved nut (5) and remove the locking plate (6). |
6 | Adjust the wheel bearings play by releasing or tightening the internal grooved nut (7). |
7 | Install the safety plate (6) and tighten the outer grooved nut (5) . |
8 | Check again the wheel bearings play. |
