Position the dial gauge support with the dial gauge on the wheel hub.

Position the tip of the dial gauge with a pre-load in the axle's support tube.

Set the dial indicator to "zero".

Determine the axial play of the wheel hub bearings, moving the wheel hub (3) forward and back.
If nominal value is not reached, adjust the axial play of the wheel hub.

With the respective slotted nut, remove the external slotted nut (5) and remove the locking plate (6).
Only if the external slotted nut (5) is already installed.

Adjust the axial play of the wheel hub bearing loosening or tightening the inner slotted nut with the respective claw wrench.
For new tapered roller bearings, target the lowest specified value.
