Check the end play
1 | Place the dial indicator holder (1) and the dial indicator (2) on the wheel hub (3) |
2 | Rest the dial indicator tip (2) on the wheel head (4) |
3 | Set the dial indicator (2) to "zero" |
4 | Move the wheel hub (3) forth and back |
5 | Check if the end play is within specifications |
If the measured axial play is not within specifications: | |

Adjust the wheel hub end play (3) according to the below procedures. |

Adjust the end play
6 | Remove the outer slotted nut (5) using the claw wrench , and remove the locking plate (6) |
Only if the external slotted nut (5) is already installed. |
7 | Adjust the wheel hub end play (3) by loosening or tightening the inner slotted nut (7) with the claw wrench |
For new roller bearings, adjust the play to the smaller specified value. |
8 | Install the safety plate (6) and tighten the outer slotted nut (5) . |
