Remove

Detach propeller shaft from drive flange (3) of front axle.

Release collar nut (4).

The locking tab must be completely sheared off.
Otherwise, when the collar nut (4) is removed, small remnants of the locking tab can damage the thread of the shaft.

Remove collar nut (4).


Do not use an impact wrench to loosen the collar nut (4).
The bearings of the axle drive can otherwise be damaged.

Detach drive flange (3).

 Use a suitable puller if necessary.

Detach cap (2).

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (1).



Check

Check drive flange (3) for signs of galling.

If galling of the radial shaft sealing ring (1) is visible on the contact surface on the drive flange (3),



install new drive flange (3).



Install

Install a new radial shaft sealing ring (1).

Install cap (2).

Apply a thin coating of oil to drive flange (3) at contact surface of radial shaft sealing ring (1).

Install drive flange (3).

Install new collar nut (4).


When tightening the collar nut (4), do not use an impact wrench.
The bearings of the axle drive can otherwise be damaged.

Secure collar nut (4).
