1 | Remove front axle shaft | ||
2 | Detach collar clamps (9a, 9b) | Installation: Replace collar clamps. | |
3 | Cut open and pull off boot (9), and detach the affected joint (10) from front axle shaft (7) | To do this, clamp the front axle shaft in a vise. Drive joint on inner spider (arrow) off front axle shaft. Use a suitable drift (steel). | |
| Cleaning | ||
4 | Clean joint (10) | If water or dirt has entered, the outer joint must be disassembled. To do this, mark the relative positions of the joint (10), inner spider (10a) and cage (10b). The inner joint cannot be disassembled. If it is dirty, replace the inner joint of the entire front axle shaft. | |

5 | Push collar clamp (9a) onto front axle shaft (7) | ||
6 | Push new boot (9) onto propeller shaft | ||
7 | Fill joint (10) with grease up to top edge of inner spider | Outer joint (wheel side). | |

8 | Push joint (10) onto front axle shaft (7) | Replace locking ring (7b) Only on the outer joints. | |
9 | Fill boot (9) and joint (10) with the rest of the grease | ||
10 | Push boot (9) onto joint (10) and front axle shaft (7) | ||
11 | Secure collar clamps (9a, 9b) | Secure clamps with clamp pliers. In order to ensure that the collar clamps are properly seated, the spindle of the clamp pliers must be tightened to 27+3 Nm (reference value). Dimension "X" must measure 2.5 mm. | |
