Remove the steering bar and tie rods

Loosen the nut (11) and remove the locking pin (9) from the kingpin (6)

 Use a punch for this job.

Remove upper and lower lock-rings (1)

Remove covers (2) and upper and lower seal rings (3)

 Replace the upper and lower retaining cover and the sealing rings.

Remove the king pin (6)

Remove the steering knuckle, the axial bearing and the compensating washers

Check

Checking the stub axle

Inspect steering knuckle
.

 Be careful when checking the steering knuckle regarding damages, cracks, and wear. Check the eccentricity of the bearings seats.

 Straightening or aligning the steering knuckle and the beam are not allowed. When required, replace them.

Disassemble and assemble the steering knuckle

Install

Install the steering knuckle on the axle beam fist and adjust the clearance through the compensating washers

Center the steering knuckle (19) with the axial bearing (8) and the preselected balancer washer (7) on the beam grip (16), using the corresponding turn handle

Install the connecting and steering arms

Removing steering arm and steering knuckle arm from steering knuckle member

Install the connecting rod

Press off, refit track rod on track arm

Press off, install drag link at pitman arm
