Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Remove front wheel



Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary

Detach collar nut from front axle shaft

 Have the service brake operated by an assistant.



Remove front brake disk

Detach brake cover plate

Loosen self-locking nut of upper transverse control arm on steering knuckle (1)

 Counterhold the bolt of the follower joint.



Press the follower joint out of the transverse control arm at the top

 Support steering knuckle (1) or lower transverse control arm.

 Check rubber boot and ball joint for wear and damage.

Press the front axle shaft out of the front axle shaft flange

 Fold the steering knuckle (1) forwards, swivel the front axle shaft out of the working area.

Extraction and insertion tool

Fasten steering knuckle (1) to follower joint on transverse control arm at the top (finger-tight)

 Secure steering knuckle (1) to prevent if from falling down in order to rule out damage.

Loosen self-locking nut on supporting joint (7)

 Counterhold the bolt of the supporting joint (7).



Press supporting joint (7) out of steering knuckle (1)

 Installation: Fit new slotted locknut (7j).
