1 | Detach wheel from front axle | ||
2 | Detach brake drum from front axle | ||
3 | Detach wheel hub cover (11) | ||
4 | Using a suitable lifting device, secure wheel hub (4) to prevent it from falling down | ||
5 | Unlock and unscrew axle nut (10) | ||
6 | Remove locking washer (9) and perforated disk (8) | ||
7 | Unscrew axle nut (7) and remove tapered roller bearing (6) | ||
8 | Take off wheel hub (4) | ||
9 | Remove radial sealing ring (1) and tapered roller bearing (2) | ||
10 | Clean/check and grease tapered roller bearings (2, 6) and wheel hub (4) | ||

11 | Insert tapered roller bearing (2) in the wheel hub (4) | ||
12 | Install radial sealing ring (1) and grease sealing lips of radial sealing ring | ||
| Multipurpose grease (NLGI-Class 2) | ||
13 | Attach wheel hub (4) to steering knuckle, insert tapered roller bearing (6) and screw on axle nut (7) | ||
14 | Tighten axle nut (7) while continuously turning front wheel hub (4) (initial torque) | | |
15 | Loosen axle nut (7) one complete revolution | ||
16 | Tighten axle nut (7) whilst continuously turning the wheel hub (4) (final torque) and after this loosen a quarter of a revolution again | | |
17 | Inspect wheel bearing play | ||

18 | Attach perforated disk (8) to axle nut (7) | The locking pin (arrow) must engage in a hole of the perforated disk (8) free of tension, if necessary turn perforated disk. | |
If after turning the perforated disk (8) again no alignment of the locking pin (arrow) with a hole is achieved: | |||
Loosen axle nut (7) until the locking pin (arrow) engages in a hole. | |||
For loosening always select the position of the perforated disk (8) which required the least release travel. The axle nut (7) may always only be released for aligning with the perforated disk. | |||
19 | Attach locking washer (9) to perforated disk (8) and screw on axle nut (10) | Use new locking washer. The locking pin of the locking washer must engage in the perforated disk. | |
20 | Tighten axle nut (10) and secure with locking washer (9) | | |
21 | Remove sealing remains on wheel hub cover (11) and on wheel hub (4) | ||
22 | Coat sealing surface of wheel hub cover (11) with sealant | ||
23 | Attach wheel hub cover (11) with bolts (13) and shims (12) | ||
24 | Tighten bolts (13) evenly in a crosswise pattern | ||
25 | Install brake drum on front axle | ||
26 | Install wheel on front axle |
