Inspection procedure

Check the suspension components for traces of hitting the road obstacles or chassis.

 Check for cracks on the suspension components, deformations of leaf spring or suspension.

Visual inspection

Check leaf springs and attachments.

 Visually inspect:
1. Spring leaves.
2. Shackles.
3. U-bolts.
4. Centre bolts.
5. Bushings.

Check for visible damage or misalignment of suspension system parts and improper previous repairs.

 Check for worn, damaged, or leaking shock absorbers.

Check for loose mountings, worn or damaged bushings and leaf springs.

 Check:
1) leaf separation or misalignment.
2) Loose axle U-bolts or nuts.

Front suspension inspection procedure

Check front leaf spring bush projections.

 Ensure that the bush projections outside the spring bracket (E) are same on both sides as shown in the illustration.

Check front leaf spring shackle pin mounting bolts.

 The front leaf spring front end mounting bolt (1) must always face rear side of the vehicle.

Assemble the front leaf springs parallel to the vehicle frame, before the springs clamped to it.

 U-clamps (2) need to be tightened to torque specification only after the alignment is ensured with spring bracket bush shackle plate.

Check front anti roll bar.

 Big end of front anti roll bar link rod mounting bolt (3) must face inner side of the anti roll bar.

Rear suspension inspection procedure

Check rear leaf spring bush projections (4).

 Ensure that the bush projections (4) outside the spring bracket are same on both sides as shown in the illustration.

Assemble the rear leaf springs parallel to the vehicle frame, before the springs clamped to it.

 U-clamps (6) need to be tightened to torque specification only after the alignment is ensured with spring bracket bush shackle plate (5).

Check rear leaf spring shackle pin mounting bolts.

 The rear leaf spring front end shackle pin mounting bolt (7) must always face rear side of the vehicle.
The rear leaf spring rear end shackle pin mounting bolt (8) must always face front side of the vehicle.
