5 | Suction off brake fluid from expansion reservoir | Suction off brake fluid up to connection of connector hose (8). | |
6 | Detach connector hose (8) from expansion reservoir | ||
7 | Detach lower engine compartment paneling | Engines 112, 113, 271 Only remove the rear section. | |
8 | Remove bottom sections of soundproofing | Engine 612 Only remove the rear section. | |
9 | Open bleed screw on central clutch operator | Collect brake fluid in a suitable container. Suction off brake fluid from the line with assistant. | |

10 | Pull out retaining clamp (9) on master cylinder connection fitting | Avoid brake fluid and soiling in interior. Parts in the interior may otherwise be damaged. | |
11 | Detach clutch (1) from clutch pedal switch (S40/3) | ||
12 | Pry off retainer (2) from pin (3) | ||
13 | Pull out pin (3) | Check pin for damage and wear; replace if necessary. | |
Installation: apply light coating of grease to pin. | |||
14 | Unscrew collar nuts (4). | Nut, brake booster carrier to front end | |
15 | Remove pedal assembly | Do not damage wiring harness. | |
16 | Pull line from connection fitting for master cylinder | Installation: Fit new O-ring (10). | |
17 | Pull connector hose (8) into interior | Installation: During install ensure that the grommet (11) seats properly. | |
18 | Install in the reverse order | Do not yet install engine compartment paneling or bottom section of soundproofing at this point. | |
19 | Bleed clutch operating system | ||
20 | Install lower engine compartment paneling | Engines 112, 113, 271 Only remove the rear section. | |
21 | Install bottom section of soundproofing | Engine 612 Only remove the rear section. |
