Removing
Use a suitable wooden support to prevent damage to the sealing surfaces of the transmission halves when removing the tapered roller bearing outer races for the hollow shaft, the intermediate gear and the front axle drive output shaft (see figure).
1 Pull tapered roller bearing outer race (1a) for hollow shaft out of front section of transmission housing (16a).
To do this, use internal extractor (023) and counter stay (016).

2 Pull tapered roller bearing outer race (2a) for intermediate gear out of front section of transmission housing (16a).
To do this, use internal extractor (017) and counter stay (016).
3 Pull tapered roller bearing outer race (3a) for front axle drive output shaft out of front section of transmission housing (16a).
To do this, use internal extractor (017) and counter stay (016).

4 Pull tapered roller bearing outer race (1b) for hollow shaft out of the rear section of transmission housing (16b).
To do this, use internal extractor and counter stay.
5 Pull tapered roller bearing outer race (2b) for intermediate gear out of the rear section of transmission housing (16b).
To do this, use internal extractor and counter stay.
6 Pull tapered roller bearing outer race (3b) for front axle drive output gear out of the rear section of transmission housing (16b).
To do this, use internal extractor and counter stay.

Install
7 Press tapered roller bearing outer race (1a) into front section of transmission housing (16a).
To do this, use drift 203 589 03 15 00 for hollow shaft.
8 Press tapered roller bearing outer race (2a) into front section of transmission housing (16a).
To do this, use drift (018) 203 589 04 15 00 for intermediate gear.
9 Press tapered roller bearing outer race (3a) into front section of transmission housing (16a).
To do this, use drift 203 589 05 15 00 for front axle drive output shaft.

10 Press tapered roller bearing outer race (1b) into rear section of transmission housing (16b).
To do this, use drift 203 589 06 15 00 for hollow shaft.
11 Press tapered roller bearing outer race (2b) into rear section of transmission housing (16b).
To do this, use drift 203 589 04 15 00 for intermediate gear.
12 Press tapered roller bearing outer race (3b) into rear section of transmission housing (16b).
To do this, use drift 203 589 05 15 00 for front axle drive output shaft.
