Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove rear part of bottom part of noise encapsulation

Remove rear part of engine compartment paneling

Detach cover (1)

 Installation: Insert lug (1a) of cover (1) in cutout (1b).

Separate connector (10) of hydraulic pump

Switch on ignition and shift through all the gears until the hydraulic components of the transmission are depressurized

5

Read out hydraulic pressure using STAR DIAGNOSIS

 The system must be depressurized.

Remove key from ignition lock

Detach pressure line (2) from pressure reservoir (3)

 Seal connections immediately.

Disconnect vent hose (4) from vent connection (5)

Rotate vent connection (5) approx. 45° to the right and pull off

 Installation: Replace O-ring (6).

Unlock electrical connector (7) from pressure sensor of automated manual transmission (B56) and disconnect

Detach clamp (8)

 Danger!

Risk of injury caused by drilling gas-filled assemblies or components (noncombustible gases)

Wear safety glasses and a face mask.

Unscrew bolt (9) and remove pressure reservoir (3)

 Seal connections immediately.

Install in the reverse order

Switch on ignition and shift through all gears several times

Check, correct the hydraulic fluid level

Read out diagnostic trouble code memory using STAR DIAGNOSIS and erase if necessary

 When the work is complete stored faults must be worked on in the diagnostic trouble code memories and erased. The stored faults can be caused by defective components, assembly as well as lines disconnected during test work and by simulation.
