1 Drive home outer bearing race of tapered roller bearing evenly using a soft drift and plastic mallet while turning the input shaft in both directions.

2 Measure distance (A) from sealing surface of the transmission housing to outer bearing race of tapered roller bearing.

3 Measure distance (B) from the front of guide tube to collar.

4 Measure thickness of oil baffle plate.

5 Calculate thickness of shim:
