Torque wrench
Determine shim |
1 | Attach clamping plate (2). |
2 | Screw in screws (3) on clamping plate (2) uniformly using torque wrench . |
Only use a torque wrench with slave pointer. |
Tighten screws (3) on clamping plate (2) in at least 2 stages. |
3 | Spin drive shaft back and forth several times so that the bearings settle. |
The splitter group must be engaged during this. Observe position of splitter box cylinder. |
4 | Tighten screws (3) on clamping plate (2) again uniformly . |
Repeat tightening procedure until the tightening torque no longer changes. |
5 | Loosen screws (3) on clamping plate (2) and tighten gently by hand. |
6 | Use vernier caliper to measure dimension (E) from bearing outer race (6) of countershaft to housing contact surface. |
Measure dimension (E) at two opposite points and determine the mean value. |

7 | Remove retaining ring (8) from countershaft brake housing (7). |
8 | Measure dimension (D) of retaining ring (8) with outside micrometer. |

9 | Measure dimension (F) at countershaft brake housing (7) from separating surface to contact surface of retaining ring (8) using vernier caliper. |

10 | Calculate shim for bearing of countershaft. |
Dimension (F) - dimension (D) - dimension (E) = thickness of shim to be installed. |
11 | Install retaining ring (8) in countershaft brake housing (7). |
12 | Detach clamping plate. |
