Disassemble

Disassemble transmission.

Remove retaining ring (11).

Remove tapered roller bearing (10).

 Use thrust piece 03 from the disassembly kit.

Remove constant speed gear 1 gearwheel (8.1) and needle bearing (9).

For transmission 715.537/539

Remove constant speed gear 1 gearwheel (8.2), synchronizer ring (8.3) and needle bearing (9).

Remove annular spring (6) and synchronizer cone (7) from constant speed gear 1 gearwheel (8.1).

For transmission 715.537/539

Remove annular spring (6) and synchronizer cone (7) from synchronizer ring (8.3).

For transmission 715.538

Remove retaining ring (3) and oil pipe (2).

If necessary.

 Owing to a technical modification, retaining ring (1) and oil pipe (2) must not be installed any more.



Check

7

Check all removed parts for damage and wear.

If damage or wear is present.



Replace relevant parts.



Assemble

Install baffle plate (4).

 The sealing lip of the baffle plate (4) must point outwards.

Oil annular spring (6) and beveled contact surfaces.

10.1

Insert annular spring (6) into synchronizer cone (7) and place onto synchronizer ring of constant speed gear 1 gearwheel (8.1).

Insert annular spring (6) into synchronizer cone (7) and place onto synchronizer ring (8.3).

For transmission 715.538

Oil needle roller bearing (9).

12.1

Slide needle bearing (9) onto drive shaft (1) and install constant speed gear 1 gearwheel (8.1).

Slide needle bearing (9) onto drive shaft (1) and install synchronizer ring (8.3) with constant speed gear 1 gearwheel (8.2).

For transmission 715.538

Heat tapered roller bearing (10) to approx. 80 °C and install.

 After cooling down (at approx. 20 °C), readjust inner race of tapered roller bearing (10) with zero axial clearance up to the contact surface.

Readjust inner race of tapered roller bearing (10) with zero axial clearance up to the contact surface.

After the tapered roller bearing (10) has cooled down (approx. 20 °C).

Install the retaining ring (11) with zero clearance.

If the retaining ring (11) cannot be installed with zero clearance.



Use retaining ring (11) with different thickness.
