1 Install clamping plate (1).
2 Screw in bolts (3) on clamping plate (1) to position
"G 210-G 280" and tighten evenly to 15 Nm.
Tighten the bolts (3) on the clamping plate (1) in at least two stages.
3 Crank drive shaft forward and backward several times so that tapered roller bearings settle.
The splitter group must be engaged.
4 Tighten bolts (3) on clamping plate (1) evenly again to
15 Nm.
Repeat the tightening procedure until the tightening torque of 15 Nm no longer changes.
5 Loosen bolts (3) on clamping plate (1) and then tighten slightly by hand.

6 Using a depth gauge, measure dimension A (A) from end face of
bearing outer race (4) of drive shaft to contact surface on front part of transmission housing.
Measure the dimension A (A) at two opposite points and determine the mean value.

7 Using a depth gauge, measure dimension B (B) from contact surface of drive shaft bearing cap (5) to contact surface of bearing outer race in drive shaft
bearing cap (5).
Measure the dimension B (B) at two opposite points and determine the mean value.

8 Determine thickness of shim required for drive shaft.
The size of the required shim must be the difference between dimension B (B) and dimension A (A) plus the dimension specified in the table:
Thickness of shim = Dimension B (B) Dimension A (A) + Value (adjustment value for spring preload)
The target spring preload is "-0.05 mm".
9 Remove clamping plate (1).
