Disassemble

Disassemble range group

Drive planet carrier (3) out of shift unit (arrows A)

 To do so, drive out the planet carrier (3) onto a suitable block of wood.

3.1

Remove synchronizer ring (18), synchronizer cone (17), spacer sleeve (10) and sliding sleeve (15)

Transmission without hydrodynamic retarder.

3.2

Remove retarder drive gear with synchronizer ring (19), synchronizer cone (17), spacer sleeve (10) and sliding sleeve (15)

Transmission with hydrodynamic retarder.

Remove retaining ring (14)

5

Pull off synchronizer body (13) using puller

 Use drift 04 from the  disassembling kit.

Remove carrier ring (9) and synchronizer cone (17)

Remove annular spring (12)

Remove synchronizer cone (11) from carrier ring (9)

Remove retaining ring (4) and ball bearing (5) from ring gear carrier (7)

Remove retaining ring (8) and remove ring gear (6) from ring gear carrier (7)

Remove planetary gears from planet carrier (3)

Only if the planetary gears, planet carrier (3), thrust plates or needle bearings are to be replaced.

Remove circlip (1) and oil splash ring (2)

 Owing to a technical modification, retaining ring (1) and oil pipe (2) must not be installed any more.



Assemble

Install planetary gears in planet carrier (3)

Only if the planetary gears, planet carrier (3), thrust plates or needle roller bearings have been replaced.

 Planetary gear bolts grub screw

Insert ring gear carrier (7) into ring gear (6) and install retaining ring (8)

Insert ball bearing (5) into ring gear carrier (7) and install retaining ring (4)

Heat ball bearing (5) to approx. 80 °C and push onto planet carrier (3)

Install carrier ring (9)

18

Oil synchronizer cone (11), insert annular spring (12) into the synchronizer cone (11) and press into the carrier ring (9)

 Check annular spring (12) for wear.

If there are complaints:



Replace annular spring (12).

Heat synchronizer body (13) to approx. 80 °C and push onto ring gear carrier (7)

 The long collar of the synchronizer body (13) must face towards the power output.

Install retaining ring (14)

Install spacer sleeve (10)

 The oil hole (arrow B) must point toward the planet carrier (3).

Install sliding sleeve (15)

23.1

Oil synchronizer cone (17), insert annular spring (16) into the synchronizer cone (17) and press into the synchronizer ring (18)

Transmission without hydrodynamic retarder.

 Check annular spring (16), synchronizer cone (17) and synchronizer ring (18) for wear.

If there are problems:



Replace annular spring (16), synchronizer cone (17) or synchronizer ring (18).

23.2

Oil synchronizer cone (17), insert annular spring (16) into the synchronizer cone (17) and install into the retarder drive wheel with synchronizer ring (19)

Transmission with hydrodynamic retarder.

 Check annular spring (16), synchronizer cone (17) and synchronizer ring (19) for wear.

If there are problems:



Replace annular spring (16), synchronizer cone (17) or synchronizer ring (19).

24.1

Heat synchronizer ring (18) to approx. 80 °C and push onto planet carrier (3)

Transmission without hydrodynamic retarder.

24.2

Heat retarder drive gear with synchronizer ring (19) to approx. 80 °C and push onto planet carrier (3)

Transmission with hydrodynamic retarder.
