Remove/install reverse idler shaft with reverse gear

Removing

1 Remove bolt (1) from bearing shell (6).

2 Heat rear section of transmission housing on outside at bearing shell (6) using hot air gun.

3 Remove bearing shell (6).

4 Remove reverse idler shaft (2), cylindrical roller bearing (3), reverse gear (4) and washer (5).

Install

The cylindrical roller bearing (3), reverse idler shaft (2) and washer (5) must be oiled.

5 Place cylindrical roller bearing (3), reverse gear (4) and shim (5) on the reverse idler shaft (2).

Note the position of the threaded hole on the reverse idler shaft (2) (arrow).

6 Install bearing shell (6) together with reverse idler shaft (2) and reverse gear (4).

7 Adjust bearing shell (6) with bolt (1).

8 Use plastic mallet to drive in reverse idler shaft (2).

9 Adjust reverse idler shaft (2) and secure with bolt (1) .
