Use  strip clamps (2) to preload bearing outer race (1) while spinning drive shaft several times.

Slacken both bolts of  strip clamps (2) again and tighten to specified torque  .

Measure distance "A" between end face of bearing outer race (1) and contact surface of transmission housing using    dial indicator holder (4) and    dial indicator (3) at two opposite points and calculate the mean value of these two distances "A".

Insert existing shim (6) into bearing cap (5).

Measure distance "B" between contact surface of bearing cap (5) and shim (6) using    dial indicator holder (3) and    dial indicator (2) at two opposite points and calculate the mean value of these two distances "B".

Calculate the difference between the mean value of distance "A" and the mean value of distance "B".

 Distance "B" must be equal to or smaller than distance "A" according to the adjustment value specified in the table.

 If there is a deviation, a suitable shim (6) must be inserted into the bearing cap (5).
