Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. | |
1 | Drain and collect the coolant | Install: Fill with coolant. refer to the operation instructions. | |
2 | Loosen the screws (1) of the belt pulley (2) | Counter-support the belt pulley (2). | |

3 | Relieve poly-V belt tension on belt tensioner (3) and remove the belt | ||
4 | Remove the belt pulley (2) | ||
5 | Remove the belt tensioner (3) from the oil filter housing | ||
6 | Detach the coolant hoses from the coolant pump (4) | ||
7 | Detach the coolant hoses (5) from the coolant pump (4) | Install: Install new sealing rings. | |
8 | Detach the coolant supply pipe of the exhaust gas recirculation (7) | Except for engines 904.958/960/969, 906.982/984/987/989, 926.918/925. | |
For that, remove the screw (8). | |||
Install: Replace the seal ring (6) and apply sliding agent. | |||
9 | Loosen the screws (9) of the coolant pump (4) | Coolant pump in the engine block | |
10 | Remove the coolant pump (4) and the gasket (10) | Install: Replace the gasket (10) and the pipe section (11). | |
11 | Clean the sealing surfaces on the engine block and coolant pump (4) | ||
12 | Install in reverse order | ||
13 | Check the coolant level, if necessary, correct the level | ||
14 | Check cooling system for leakages |
