1 Check carbon brush length (A) of regulator carbon brushes.

 If a carbon brush is below the minimum value, a new regulator must be installed.

2 Check shape of carbon brush wear.

 If the carbon brushes are worn at an angle, the bearings of the alternator are damaged necessitating replacement of the alternator.
