Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Raise vehicle with vehicle lift

Remove bar link

Only loosen left and right upper crossmember from frame-type integral support

Unclip vacuum line (3) from line bracket (5), remove from vacuum unit on exhaust gas recirculation cooler (6) and remove from working area

Unhook oil return line (2) from bracket (4)

Remove cable ties (7)

Disconnect electrical connector on exhaust temperature sensor upstream of exhaust gas turbocharger (B19/11x1) and remove line tieout from working area

Disconnect electrical connector on exhaust temperature sensor upstream of diesel particulate filter (DPF) (B19/9x1) and remove line tieout from working area

Unscrew bolts (8) on exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) from exhaust gas recirculation cooler

Unscrew bolts (9) on exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) from exhaust gas turbocharger and remove exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1)

Installation: Clean sealing surfaces. Replace seals between exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) and exhaust gas recirculation cooler as well as between exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) and exhaust gas turbocharger.

Install in the reverse order

Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Test run engine and check exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) for leakage

Read out fault memory, erase if necessary

Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
