Tensioning strap (transport lock installed on the new part)

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove

Raise vehicle with vehicle lift

Remove expansion rivet (1) and take off belt drive cover (2)

Counterhold belt tensioner (3), loosen screw/bolt (4) and slacken belt tensioner (3) carefully

 Installation:
Ensure that the stud (arrow A) engages correctly in the bore in the timing case cover (6).
The timing case cover (6) will be damaged otherwise.

 Remove screw/bolt (4) only until the stud (arrow A) of the belt tensioner (3) is no longer locked in the bore in the timing case cover (6).

 Installation: Check installation position of the poly-V belt (5), twist the belt tensioner (3) in the direction of the arrow until it rests (arrow C) and tighten screw/bolt (4).
While installing a new belt tensioner (3), the tensioning strap (8) must be cut with a suitable knife or side cutting pliers and removed after tightening the screw/bolt (4).

Unscrew screw/bolt (7) and remove belt tensioner (3)

 Bolt, belt tensioner to starter/alternator
