Inspect charge air cooler and charge air hoses for leaks

Checking

1

Check whether engine oil has gathered in the charge air cooler (1); drain off engine oil if necessary

 Collect engine oil being drained off.

Remove red charge air hose (2) from charge air pipe to turbocharger

3

Remove black charge air hose (6) from charge air pipe to charge air manifold

4

Attach test flange (3)
to red charge air hose (2)

 The test flange (3) must also be supported at the opening of the charge air pipe.



Attach test flange (5) to black charge air hose (6)

 The test flange (5) must also be supported at the opening of the charge air pipe.



Attach testing unit (4) to test flange (5)



Apply compressed air to charge air cooler (1) and charge air hoses (2, 6) at test flange (5)

 Do not exceed test pressure since otherwise the charge air cooler (1) or charge air hoses (2, 6) can be damaged.

Check charge air cooler (1) and charge air hoses (2, 6) for leaks

 The testing time must be maintained. If there is a pressure drop:

Check charge air cooler (1) and charge air hoses (2, 6) for damage; replace if necessary.

Bleed compressed air at test flange (5)

Remove testing unit (4) and test flanges (3, 5)



Install charge air hose (2, 6)

 Inspect clamps for wear, replace if necessary.
