Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Clean engine in the area of the pressure limiting valve (11)

Counterhold rail (10) at front at flange with an open-end wrench (9) and remove pressure limiting valve (11)

 Installation: Replace sealing ring (12).

Install in the reverse order

Connect diagnostic system and perform quick test

Only if pressure limiting valve (11) was replaced.

 See information from body manufacturer.

Reset frequency counter for opening of pressure limiting valve (11)

Only if pressure limiting valve (11) was replaced.

 The process is completely menu-assisted under:
MCM - engine management (A4)  
Adaptations 
Parameterization 
Resetting the calibration settings 
Frequency counter 'Opening of pressure limiting valve'

Remove diagnostic system

Only if pressure limiting valve (11) was replaced.

Start engine and perform an engine test run

 Allow engine to run at a higher rotational speed.

If engine fails to start or only runs for a brief period.



Fill fuel low-pressure circuit.

Turn off the engine and check in area of the pressure limiting valve (11) for leaktightness

 Visual inspection.
