Removing/installing

Open left rear maintenance flap

 Danger!

Risk of explosion caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and safety glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Disconnect ground cable at battery

Open engine compartment flap

Open maintenance flap at right rear

Detach fuel heat exchanger

 The fuel lines must not be detached.

Remove vehicle wiring harness (2) connector on MR/PLD control unit (6)

 Press the securing clamp to release.

 Installation: Secure the vehicle wiring harness (2) connector with the securing clamp.

Remove vehicle wiring harness (1) on MR/PLD control unit (6)

 Do this by swivelling the securing clamp downwards to release it.

 Installation: Secure the engine wiring harness (1) connector with the securing clamp.

Remove bolts (3)



Remove MR/PLD control unit (6) with rubber shock absorber (4) and ground clamp (5)

 Installation: Note installation position of rubber shock absorbers (4) and ground clamp (5).

If the MR/PLD control unit was replaced: 

Connect up diagnostics tool and transfer new data record to the MR/PLD control unit.
