	Inspect
1	Take off valve covers of the first and the synchronized cylinder		*BA01.20-N-1001-01F
2	Fit on cranking device		*407589006300
3	Position first cylinder to ignition TDC	 There is no load on the rocker arms, the tappet rods can be easily turned, the synchronized cylinder is positioned at overlap TDC.
4	Eliminate the valve clearance of first cylinder	 Turn the adjusting bolt until the rocker arm has no play.
5	Crank engine a further revolution in direction of rotation	 The first cylinder is positioned at overlap TDC.
6	Mount dial gage with dial gage holder onto the cylinder head of the first cylinder	 Place the dial gage with a preload (max. 5 mm) onto the valve spring retainer of the inlet valve and set the scale to "0".

7	Crank back engine until the pointer of the dial gage stops
8	Read off measurement of valve lift at TDC inlet valve	Valve lift	*BE05.20-N-1002-02D
		Timing	*BE05.20-N-1001-02D
9	Re-set first cylinder to overlap TDC
10	Re-position dial gage	 Place the dial gage with a preload (max. 5 mm) onto the valve spring retainer of the exhaust valve and set the scale to "0".

11	Crank engine in direction of rotation until the pointer of the dial gage stops
12	Read off measurement of valve lift at TDC exhaust valve	Valve lift	*BE05.20-N-1002-02D
		Timing	*BE05.20-N-1001-02D
13	Set the valve clearance of first cylinder
			AP05.30-T-0560B
14	Fit on cylinder covers	  Use new gasket.	*BA01.20-N-1001-01F
15	Remove cranking device
