Adjust valve bridge

Carry out setting of valve bridges (3) only if engine is cold or fully warmed through. Wait at least 30 minutes after switching off the engine.

Clamp valve bridge (3) in vise.

Release counternut (1) and unscrew setting screw (2) by approx. 3 turns.

Adjust valve bridge

Install valve bridge (3) over the guide pins at the cylinder head.

Press valve bridge (3) downwards against spring force and hold.


Valve bridge (3) must be in contact with valve stem (A).
The adjustment screw (2) points towards the exhaust manifold.

Adjust valve bridge

Manually screw in setting screw (2) while keeping valve bridge (3) pressed until setting screw (2) is slightly in contact with valve stem (B).


The valve bridge (3) must not move up.

Slightly tighten counternut (1) by hand.

Remove valve bridge (3) from cylinder head.

Clamp valve bridge (3) in vise.

Tighten setting screw (2) and counternut (1)   .

Install valve bridge (3) over the guide pins at the cylinder head.
